Description

<Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. There are species native to warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. Member species are renowned for their large, showy flowers and those species are commonly known simply as “hibiscus”. Other names include hardy hibiscus, rose of sharon, and tropical hibiscus.>

Soils:  compost enriched, free draining light soil.  Add gypsum and organic matter to improve drainage.

Best results:  Water well until established.  Hardy plant in dry areas but water well during summer.  Mulch well.  Fertilise from October – June.  Prune back by around a thrid in spring to encourage bushy growth.

Species:  Hibiscus rosa-sinensis
